Ok, you got me. I think it's safe to say that I will never be a very active blogger.
Don't worry though just yet people who still read this blog (Snædís) because you will still find a new post here every once in while.
And since school is very hectic at the moment what with all these tests, assignments and presentations which I should really be working on right now, I decided to forget all that and blog!

This past week I've been watching a lot of films, great films! Most of them old classics that ,,everyone should see" but I never did because I'm a rebel~
I saw the Godfather trilogy which, to my surprise, was really good. I know it shouldn't surprise me because, well, people say the first one is one of the greatest films ever but I've never been a fan of mob films.
I also watched the 90's version Cape Fear. I did not know that the Simpsons episode 'Cape Feare' was a spoof of that film by the way. So you can imagine my surprise. Cape Fear is great and terrifying, I recommend it.
Then I watched Goodfellas, another good mob film. I still can't figure out how on earth Henry Hill is still alive but like you know whatever.
And then~ I watched Melancholia and let me just say, holy mother of everything. Melancholia is amazing. It's stunning, but also very bleak. After watching it I spent a few days just wandering around aimlessly. It was all very dramatic. I suggest you go watch that movie now. Drop everything and watch it!

My landlord had the sprinkler running last Sunday and it was magical~ I'm not quite sure why sprinklers are so amusing to me but I find them very entertaining and I could watch them forever. Plus it didn't hurt that a bunch of little birds decided to bathe in the puddles that the sprinklers formed.

Jólin eru að koma!

Ég setti upp jólatréð á föstudaginn sem gekk bara alveg ágætlega. Tréð er reyndar dáldið skakkt en það gefur því bara karakter. Ég gafst svo upp þegar það var komið að því að festa jólaseríurnar á tréð, talandi um ómögulegt verkefni.

Þegar ég eignast mitt eigið jólatré mun ég bara henda seríunum einhvern veginn á tréð og vona að það kveikni ekki í. Problem solved!

How divine is this collection?

First Chanel collection, in what feels like ages, that I truly love. Well the sandals are really not my cup of tea but everything else!

The theme was Paris-Byzance and was inspired by the empress Theodora and the lost culture of Byzantium.

The outfits truly are amazing and the details are exquisite.

Mosaic embroidery? Yes please!

Big, chunky jewelry and a messy beehive topped with a filigree headband?

Don't mind if I do!

For the past 4 weeks I've been attending a photography course. It's been unbelievably fun and inspiring. Next week is the final week and I must admit that I am feeling quite sad that it's all about to be over. I wish it would continue for another 6 weeks, but alas.

The summer is gone, the autumn colors wont be here for much longer and soon the sunlight will abandon us as well. Feeling very inspired by darkness and horror right now.

Af því bara.

Ég og móðir mín skottuðumst út í Hagkaup eld snemma í morgun því mig langaði svo gífurlega mikið í hindber. Ég hef upp á síðkastið séð mikið af vatnsglösum með hindberjum í og fundist það alveg ótrúlega spennandi og þurfti ég því auðvitað að prófa þetta sjálf. Mér til mikils ama eru hindber alveg fáránlega dýr og voru þau fáu hindber sem til voru farin að skemmast þannig að ég missti fljótt allan áhuga á hindberja vatnsglasinu mínu.
Þess í stað ákvað ég að kaupa mér melónu.
Það eru liðin mörg ár síðan ég fékk mér seinast melónu og ég ætla ekki að ljúga, ég var orðin afar spennt þegar ég kom heim.
Ég eyddi miklum tíma að pæla hvernig maður sker melónur í flotta báta en náði samt að klúðra þeim. En hún bragðaðist ótrúlega vel samt sem áður.
Ég get því miður ekki talað endalaust um melónur því það væri leim þannig að ég skil bara þessar myndir eftir hérna:

I've seen so many Miu Miu DIY tutorials on the internet over the past few weeks that my fingers are itching with excitement. I want it all! I want to do them all right now! but alas, I'm unemployed and therefore I have to sit and wait patiently for my future employer charming to come rescue me from this poor, bleak existence.
Plus I have yet to find a store that sells transfer paper, and leather scraps!
The first thing I want to try to make is the miu miu cat brooch, I think they're absolutely divine!

Yesterday my mother bought easter branches and so today I dug up our old easter decorations and decorated the branches. I feel that easter is tremendously underrated when it comes to decorations. I wish I had a part time job so I could spend the entire paycheck on easter stuff. I love it all, it brightens up your home and your mood! Last year I don't think we even decorated one bit.

This collection was such a hit and miss. While some of the outfits are absolutely gorgeous, I love that they are bringing the 50's back, the others are just not working. They don't compliment the models bodies at all and make them look unshapely and twice the size they really are, can you imagine what they'd look like on the everyday woman?
LV has a few curvy models showcasing the collection which is great, but I can't help but wonder if they thought it would be a good idea to dress the thinner models in oversized clothing in hopes that it would make them look bigger and/or give them curves?

The Snow Is Here

I spoke too soon, last week it started to snow and it hasn't stopped snowing since then. Apart from the little snow we got in December this is the first snow of this winter. I usually can't stand snow but I must admit that when it's fresh, white and clean, it makes everything look divine. Not to mention it lightens up our gloomy winter darkness days.

I wasn't quite sure at first whether I should dare leave the house so I hid inside most of the afternoon. While snooping through my mothers closet I found this gorgeous jacket, I absolutely adore it and I was very pleased when my mother gave me permission to wear it as I please.

Outside..

My sister made me a gorgeous snowflake headband which I thought was very appropriate to wear.

The snow on the branches is so heavy that they have dropped down to the ground

While I was outside one of the kittens came to the window and watched me thoroughly

She wasn't all too pleased with me when I came to close to the window though

ast Sunday the family got together for lunch celebrating what would have been my grandfathers 95th birthday. The weather was so lovely, it was sunny and not windy at all and the food was delicious. Perfect day.

I absolutely adore the last dress, it isn't the best summer dress, obviously, but boy oh boy do I want it!

Kittens

If kittens aren't just the cutest thing there ever was, well then I don't know what is.

My sisters cat had 5 adorable kittens last December, since then we've been constantly squeeing in delight while watching them evolve and grow. Next week they turn 8 weeks old which means it's time for them to find new homes. My siblings and I all got to pick one kitten, name them and make them ours, so to speak.

Not to brag but my kitten, bb Tsar, is by far the most entertaining, energetic and awesome kitten in the bunch, which is why she is the only kitten that has been picked, she'll be leaving us next Monday. I'm heartbroken, if I could, I'd make it so that bb Tsar could be a kitten and stay with my sister forever. It's going to be so quiet when they've all left.

Grand. The Grammy's were last night, tremendously boring I must say, except for the Michael Jackson tribute, and Lady Gaga's performance.

I must say I LOVED Coco's dress, a lot of people were giving her grief about it but honestly it's gorgeous! Rococo meets the Disney princesses. Can't wait to see more from her clothing line, Rococo by Coco Rocha.

One year, he was sent out to cover a storm and he caught a picture of a woman having a smoke and drinking a beer by the shore. A split-second after the picture was snapped, a wave caused the ground beneath her to give way and she was drug out into the flood plane.
He continued to photograph the situation because a man and a lifeguard were about 100 feet away from her and coming to help. The man got there first, he stepped into the water and reached for her hand, but stopped. A massive wave suddenly came in and consumed the woman, drowning her.
This sequence of pictures stirred up controversy from readers of the newspaper in which they were published from concerned citizens. They objected to Marcus photographing this woman drowning and not dropping everything to save her life.
But, in the course of his work, he's had to endure a host of horrible things which he needed to both feel and block out at the same time. In all of the other international situations, he feels helpless to do anything but record what was happening.
